MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Senate today passed Senator Will Barfoot’s (R-Pike Road) SB 103, the School Choice and Student Opportunity Act. This bill would allow for the formation of charter schools on or near military installations with a focus on serving military dependents.
“Alabama is home to some of the finest military installations in the nation, and it is critical that the state attracts new military families while retaining the ones we have,” said Senator Barfoot. “I am proud of our men and women in uniform, and we must ensure that we continue to provide them with the best resources possible. This bill would not only affect the River Region; it would benefit service members statewide. I would like to thank Governor Kay Ivey and Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth for their continued efforts on this issue.”
SB 103 today moved to the Alabama House of Representatives and was referred to the Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.
